A large majority of miniature schnauzers are the distinctive and unique salt and pepper color. The color is produced by having dark and light shades of gray. Dark dogs will have the majority of the hair ends dark, while in the lighter colored dogs, there are more lighter ends. Puppies usually have a dark stread across the back.
BLACK AND SILVER
Black and silvers follow the same pattern as salt and peppers except that the salt and pepper section must be pure black, which includes the undercoat. The underbody hair may be lighter, but should still be essentially black. The white areas may range from silver to white. In some parts of the country, black and silvers with cotton white features are being referred to a phantoms. A prominant black mask is visible around the eyes.
BLACK
Black is a solid color miniature schnauzer with the undercoat being black and the top coat being a rich and glossy black. Furnishings and whiskers are a less intense color of black. Sometimes a small white breast spot is visible. Black miniature schnauzers are very beautiful.
WHITE
White miniature schnauzers have grown in popularity. Although they are not recognized in competition in the United States, they can be registered as purebred miniature schnauzers.
Because of the white color and staining of the fur, it is recommended that they be kept inside the home. Their undercoat and outer coats as well as their furnishings are white.
PARTI
Parti colored are hard to find. Breeders who raise show dogs have fought for years to eliminate any rare traits in the breed, for example the white and parti. Pet owners often want pets that are unusual and rare. Breeders who breed for these rare traits offer them for pets. There are silver and white partis, chocolate and white partis, salt and pepper , as well as black and white partis. Partis are AKC registered, but are not allowed to be shown.
Liver / Chocolate /Liver Pepper / White Chocolate
Color's range from light brown to dark brown all will have brown nose , hazel to green eye's. White chocolate are solid white with the brown nose and hazel to green eye's.
Liver pepper is like salt / pepper but the coloring is tanning with black for peppering must have the brown nose and hazel to green eye's to be Liver / chocolate anything
